Inclement Weather
If the College is closed, all classes are cancelled.
If evening classes are cancelled, all classes are cancelled.
Early College (“EC”) students should follow the county/city schools’ schedule. However, if the College is open, EC students should make every effort to attend their College classes.
You can determine if your classes are cancelled by:
• Sign up for the HCC mobile alert (emergency text messaging service) at
http://halifaxcc.edu/mobilealerts/ or access from HCC homepage by clicking "Mobile Alerts"
• Checking the Halifax Community College's Web site www.halifaxcc.edu
• By calling (252)536-6351
• Calling the College switchboard at 252-536-4221, or
• Checking local media stations (radio or television) for the latest information.
Coursework for missed academic classes due to inclement weather or an emergency closing will be made-up in one of the following ways:
1. Rescheduling the course at a time convenient for the faculty and students;
2. Documenting make-up through the use of an alternate assignment; or
3. Altering or extending the semester calendar.
